Vahn is a spatial design studio that uses the motor-home as its medium, developing bespoke mobile spaces around the lifestyles and requirements of its clients
Rather than adapting existing vehicles through standard customization, founder Moksha Gandhi, builds each project from scratch through a conversation with her client.
Their work has ranged from mobile homes and design studios to spaces for musicians and vehicles designed for long-distance journeys, including a cross-country undertaking from India to London.
Pomoco was commissioned to develop a graphic for the van, with a straightforward brief of representing the idea of a journey across its surface.
The concept translated the experience of transit into the different planes of the vehicle. We developed a landscape-based graphic language that moved across the van, representing the spatial and temporal changes encountered during a journey.
Three terrains—mountains, desert, and forest, that formed the core visual vocabulary, with a color palette that indicated the changing day and night
Rather than treating the van as a single flat surface, the different sides represented separate moments within one continuous journey.
The visual choice of making movement and landscape central to Vahn’s identity on the road highlighted their approach to spatial design of turning a functional motor-home into a travelling environment.
