This project was an exercise in responding to the limitations of the production agencies while keeping the result honest to the raw, unstructured nature of a diary entry
In 2025, Sanjeeta Bhatnagar released her single Could Have Been. As part of her Dear Diary tour that year, she reached out to us to design the merchandise. Known for her lyrical agency and candid verses, she imagined the tour to feel like an intimate experience straight out of the pages of her journal. We realised her new single, itself a bittersweet conversation with oneself about moving on, became an anchor for the work. And so we began by thinking about how the warmth and messiness of handwritten thoughts might translate into form.

Throughout the process, we were careful not to slip into a scrapbook aesthetic. Instead, we worked toward something that felt coherent while remaining unfiltered. The production, an extension of this idea, involved several rounds of testing prints, selecting and treating fabrics, and adjusting the artwork in response to the technical constraints of the printing industry. We consciously considered an array of swatches before picking a colour palette that felt most aligned with her voice and allowed the merchandise to be gender-neutral.
The tote bag is an extension of the T-shirt, featuring a similar, less invasive ribbon with details of the tour. The result is merchandise that feels less like memorabilia and more like a page from one’s diary to carry forward
