Our dear friend Mehul and his wife-to-be Vishakha approached Pomoco to design a fully digital wedding invitation rooted in their heritage from Nathdwara, Udaipur
They specifically wanted to incorporate the Pichhwai art style as a nod to their cultural background, while keeping the layout suited to modern viewing, primarily on mobile devices.
The brief called for a balance between tradition and clarity, with minimal ornamentation and smooth functionality. Designed as a continuous vertical scroll, the invitation covered four key wedding ceremonies.
We created custom Pichhwai-inspired illustrations featuring narrative elements drawn from traditional Rajasthani architecture, domestic spaces, and rituals.
A bespoke emblem combining the couple’s initials was developed with a focus on legibility and minimal form rather than intricate detailing. To ensure readability on small screens, the typography was kept clean and proportioned. The emblem was also adapted for use on guest gift tags.
A restrained color palette of whites, lush greens, and dark blues helped preserve cultural reference without overwhelming the visuals
A sense of visual flatness and generous negative space supported performance and clarity across digital devices. The wedding invitation successfully brought together traditional visual cues and efficient digital delivery resulting in an invitation that felt both grounded and contemporary.
